instant telephone access from virtually any location, no matter how remote, anywhere in the Western Hemisphere and from over 39 countries World Wide.* These CDMA digital phones link directly to up to 4 orbiting satellites at one time for exceptional reliability and clarity. The call is then directed to the nearest Earth station for connection to your party. All you need is open sky for the phone to "see" the orbiting satellites. They also include a modem so you can even use your Globalstar phone to connect to the Internet at up to 9.6Kps (or faster using the new Data Compression software) by using the optional Globalstar Data Services Kit. Any standard group 3 fax machine can also be used on the Globalstar system with the optional SFX-100 or SFX-700 Fax Interface unit and a GSP-1600 or GSP-2900 phone.
