Sick Call

Discussion was held regarding pending legislation changing the eligibility for Agent Orange disability from those who were "In Country" to those who served in the region. It was reported that Representative Simpson has not signed on as a sponsor for the bill. The Commander reported that Representative Minnick has signed on as a sponsor and will pressure Simpson and others. He advised that the Department is sending a letter to both and other legislators regarding this matter, and that National is following the legislation closely and bringing pressure where possible regarding this legislation.

The Commander mentioned the program "Bagdad Pups" which was created to bring home pets discovered and rescued in conflict areas by our troops. They are real morale builders for the troops. There is information regarding this program on the Post website.

There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 1845 HRS and all present enjoyed a great pot luck dinner with the fried chicken from Albertsons paid for by the post. Albertsons gave the post a $20 gift card towards the purchase of the chicken.

Respectfully submitted,

David Freeman
